Extraordinary Beginnings is truly extraordinary!

I wanted to share my experience with Extraordinary Beginnings; a wonderful studio program for infants and toddlers, here in Markham.
I have been taking my son to the studio since May and I believe that my son's continuing development can be partially attributed to his exposure to the program and most importantly-the owner-Allison Barrow. Allison creates an amazing atmosphere for both parents and babies in that; we are all able to partake in the numerous stimuli that the studio offers. Parents are also privy to great camaraderie and we are able to participate in “Coffee Hours” in which we are treated to speakers from various fields. The recent Q & A session with Dr.Pancer was extremely informative. We all share information on upcoming events that are pertinent to parents and tots.
I particularly enjoy watching my son engage with other children. The studio allows for free flowing play however the children are also treated to songs, puppets, activities, and craft ideas that we can all adopt at home.
We have now accumulated a lot of special moments thanks to Extraordinary Beginnings. We have shared a couple of “firsts” like climbing stairs and walking (and so much more in between) and there is nothing like sharing these moments with those who can appreciate them.
My son and Allison have a great relationship. He looks forward to his time at the studio and showers Allison with hugs and kisses.
This has been a rich, fulfilling experience for both of us and I am thankful for it.
I highly recommend Extraordinary Beginnings and I am happy to share more feedback and answer questions for those who are interested in learning more.
Although, there are various programs offered through the Town and other vehicles, I have tried some and none have compared.

Parents Beware of very cheap home day care providers

I would like to remind all the parents who are looking for child care providers. There are lot of providers who are willing to take care of your children for cheap prices. The price for looking after a kid is $30 or $35(Full day). They might give you great references, some say they are E.C.E but with all these how sure are you whether they take care of your kids?I came across many provider who said had experience with agencies like family day/Wee watch. They do it privately using their names. When I had my experience with one provder who charged $20 for my kid(for a day)part time no food included.I thought it was a great price .I was shocked because the provider just put my child in the play pan all day saying she has to get used.In fact when I went up to her house without informing she was busy doing her household chores. How do you trust these providers? Do they like to take care of children or are they intrested in making some money.

Hello, I'm looking to rent a room (either apartment, coach house, basement or room in house) in Markham or Cornell, between September 24 to October 06 (inclusive).
It's for 2 adults, both non-smokers. It is just myself and my husband, no furniture. We have a storage unit rented to store our furniture and belongings. The reason we require a short term rental is because our new house will not be ready until October 7 and we have to move out of our current house by September 24 to accomodate the new owners.
Please contact me if you have any availability for this period. My email address is rsamoojh@yahoo.ca.
Thanks
Rhona

Does anyone in the Cornell area have a used DVD/CD Duplicator. I have a small project of about one hundred cd's and one hundred dvd's to burn. I would like to borrow or rent one from someone in the area if they have one.
Thank you,

With enough interest in the Markham/Pickering area, we will apply from the Canadian Kendo Federation to open a new dojo. Location to be determined, but we are looking at either Angus Glen CC. or a public school gym with nice hardwood floor. Suggestions are welcome.
Please email me (yk2.yyz@gmail.com) if you are interested, no experience needed. Minimum age is 10. If you currently hold a Kendo or Kumdo rank, please include that in your email, and feel free to express your teaching interest if you hold at least San (3) Dan.

Save the environment, reduce noise pollution, don't be exposed to nerve- damaging vibration, don't pay for gasoline for your lawn mower and get vigorous cardiovascular exercise while out outdoors!
This Scotts Classic Reel Lawn Mower was made by American Lawnmowers Company.
Originally Purchased (New) from Home Hardware in Markham, Ontario.
Use and Condition
I used only about seven to ten times. Lubricated before or after (or both) virtually every use. Appears to me to be in near mint condition. The warranty has expired. There are, however, few moving parts relative to a gas-powered lawnmower (less things to go wrong). I have not experience any mechanical difficulty with it at all.
Lowest Price I've seen for the mower (new): $203.37 (8% sales tax included and shipping)
http://www.reelmowerscanada.com/scotts.html
I'm offering same mower model for $90.00.
You save approximately: $77.00. (after sharpening and replacing foam grips on handles)
I will deliver this mower to as far south as Steeles Avenue, as far East as Highway 48, as far West as Leslie Street, and as far North as Major Mackenzie Drive. Otherwise I can meet you at the Fairview Mall T.T.C. station, or a place in Markham where you can try before you buy. If you come to meet me at a suitable location in Markham, then I will discount the mower by an ADDITIONAL $10.00 OFF.
Here's a description of the 2008 Scotts Classic Reel Mower (looks to be approximately the same as the model year I have)
• 5 Blade Design. A proven favourite!
• Weight 13.7Kg (30 pounds)
• Cutting width 50cm (20 inches)
• Cutting height 25 - 76mm (1 - 3 inches), easily adjusted
• Heat treated blades
• Expected blade life between sharpenings is 1-2 years
• Rigid full-width handle with foam grip
• Ten inch wheel diameter
• Six inch back wheels to reduce drag and add mobility
For more general information, please browse to the Internet Website Below:

It Should Probably Be Sharpened:
If you sharpen the blades before use (recommended), then it would be the first time this reel mower would be sharpened since leaving ALM's factory. The sharpening compound and kit is about $15 - $20 at Perkins Home Hardware in Markham, East side of Woodbine Avenue, north of Hwy. number 7. Cranking kit included. Compound is a made of a mixture of oil and diamonds. Sharpening kit comes with a hand crank. Jamie, the lawnmower service technician at Home Hardware said that sharpening this reel mower is a relatively simple procedure, (i.e. you don't need special technical know how to sharpen). However, Home Hardware themselves do not sharpen reel mowers. Jamie, however, said sometimes local golf course maintenance department(s) do service reel mowers because they use them on their greens. I used the mower within the last two weeks to mow the lawn (I lubricated it fully before), and it did a fine job.
The Foam Grips Need Replacing:
There are black foam grips covering the metal handles. The grips are cracked in maybe 1-3 places, although I expect this is normal after a few winters of being stored in a garage. Replacement grips can be ordered from American Lawnmower Company, 1-800-618-7474 or 1-800-633-1501. Price: $2.20 per grip (may be best to order 2-3). Shipping on one grip is $6.80 and woman there thought it would take about seven (7) days to ship to Greater Toronto Area. She said that shipping would not be significantly more for more than one grip. She also said that to change the handle you'll need a Phillips screwdriver and liquid soap to lubricate the inside of the new grip and the (outside of) the handle bar. By the way, the cracks on the grip will not affect performance of the lawnmower, but replacing them will make it look nicer and offer a slightly more even grip for your hands when you grip it.
You're saving approximately $113.37 before grip repairs (assuming you purchase three grips and that shipping cost on them stays approximately constant) and blade sharpening and approximately $77.00 after repairs.and sharpening.
Try Before You Buy:
I can meet you at a place where you can test mow the grass, to try before you buy.
***VERY IMPORTANT WARNING: This reel mower should NOT be used by people who have any known problems with their heart health because using this machine provides the user with vigorous exercise. It is best suited for people wanting to mow small to medium sized lawns and who are in good (or better) general physical health. I reserve the right to NOT sell this reel mower to anyone who does not appear to me to be in ADEQUATE PHYSICAL CONDITION to use this reel mower. I believe it to be most suitable for individuals who are approximately between the ages of 16 to 35. Individuals above that age range should already be leading an physcially active lifestyle and be in at least very good (or better) general physical health, before considering buying such a machine for their own use.**
Good For:
Like most reel mowers, this mower is NEITHER suitable for cutting especially tall grass, (i.e. above three inches); NOR most weeds. However, Walter at reelmowerscanada.com said to me that it's the only reel mower that he knows of that will cut dandelions. Golf courses use reel lawnmowers on their greens to achieve such short cut lawns.
Width and Weight:
This Scotts Classic Reel Mower also has a large, 20" wide, cutting width, which gives it some extra weight (total weight about 30lbs.), but cuts the lawn in less passes, all other things being equal. By comparison, the gas powered, mulching lawnmowers I've researched are about 70-90 lbs.
Just like with most any gas powered lawnmowers, it's best to mow on a regular, frequent basis for the best results.
INCLUDED: Unival Krown KL73 lubricant - Long Lasting Rust Inhibitor. The one Home Hardware specifically recommended for this mower when I originally purchased the mower. I paid $9.17 for it (tax included), but I will include it for free, I think it's approximately 1/4 full.

Uniden Nascar® Handheld Racing Scanner: B-BC72XLT
Offering price: $175.00 for unit with a THREE-YEAR IN-STORE REPLACEMENT EXTENDED WARRANTY by The Source by Circuit City (formerly known as Radio Shack). This warranty is transferable to you, the purchaser.
I purchased this scanner on April 21, 2008 from The Source By Circuit City (Formerly known as Radio Shack) at Markville Mall in Markham for $169.99. I also purchased, for $50.00, a three year in-store replacement warranty on the scanner which is transferable to a subsequent buyer. The Source By Circuit City has about 800 stores across Canada. I'm selling because I need the money and because I don't have the time to learn how to use it and because, long-term, I'm looking to upgrade to a more expansive scanner. I only used scanner about 5 to 10 times since I purchased it. Since The Source By Circuit City currently has a sale on for $20.00 off their regular price of $169.99, you'll save about $49.87 if you purchase from me. If you're from Toronto proper, and only have access to public transportation, then I'm willing to meet you at Fairview Mall. If you have an automobile, then we can arrange to meet at a mutually convenient location.
User mannual and AC Power adapter and chord inluded.

HP Color LaserJet 2840 All-in-One

HP Color LaserJet 2840 All-in-One
(Product Number: Q3950AiO)
This is Colour Laser Printer, Colour Photocopier, Colour Scanner, Black and White Fax,
Asking Price: $750.00
My Personal Comments
This is a fantastic All-in-one, and has everything I needed for my printing requirements and more. I have been very happy with it's performance. This is Hewlett Packards Top-of-Line Home and Home Office category Colour Laser Printer. This 2840 is in near mint condition.
Why Am I Selling This If I’m So Happy With It?
Several Reasons:
1. I need money.
2. I’m doing a minimal amount of printing these days, not regular daily use (or not even regular weekly use), and can use my Father’s printer.
3. I’m picky – I want to get a printer (when I can afford it), that is Windows Vista Ready, not just Windows Vista Compliant. (Note: Hewlett Packard does indeed support this HP Colour LaserJet 2840 whether running Windows XP or Windows Vista. However, if you are running Windows Vista 64 bit, than there is no scanning software, and scanning in not supported.) However, otherwise, for Windows Vista users, the drivers download should do just fine in making this Windows Vista compatible. However, I have neither tried downloading the Windows Vista drivers nor used the Windows Vista drivers for this HP Colour LaserJet 2840 because I have only used Windows XP computers with this printer.
How Did I Calculate the Offering Price of $750.00?
Printer itself is currently on sale for $649.00 (regular price is $949.00) on www.H.P.ca's Internet website. With taxes, the unit cost (new) at sale price is $733.37.
I will further reduce this price reducing price to $650.00
Price of Two year extended warranty: $295x1.13(tax)x0.5 = $166.68. (I will reduce price to $100.00) (I will include for free one year of extended warranty free because first year of manufacturers standard warranty is almost over (ends July 24, 2008). Extended warranty ends on July 24, 2010, and is transferrable to you, the buyer.
Included for free:
Black toner cartridge 20% full, estimated 898 pages remaining: 0.2 x $90.40 = $18.08
Cyan toner cartridge 60% full, estimated 2695 pages remaining: 0.6x$113 = 67.80
Magenta toner cartridge 60% full, estimated 2683 pages remaining: 0.6x$113 = $67.80
Yellow toner cartridge 56% full, estimated 2287 pages remaining: 0.56x$113 = $63.28
Imaging drum 53% full, estimated 8709 pages remaining: 0.53x$197.75 = $104.81
Current value of above supplies$319.00 (more, if purchasing from H.P.)
Technical support
Technical support for the H.P. CLJ 2840 is available Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM EST, but not on Saturdays and Sundays. Hewlett Packard has a special support group, in Southern Ontario, dedicated to supporting the CLJ 2840, (and perhaps the HP CLJ 2820 and CLJ 2830 printers). Technical support number is 1-800-474-6836.
Use and Condition
This saw relatively frequent use (99% plus was only printing) during July August and September of 2007, but has almost not been used at all since than. This device appears to me to be in near mint condition. There are neither scratches nor marks on the device body, nor on the glass scanning plate. There have been no hardware issues with this device. I have only stored it on a T.V. stand.
Warrenty
I purchased this printer, new, from an H.P. authorized reseller in July of 2007. I purchased an optional three-year (two years plus original one year warrenty). Warranty is for full parts and service next business day on-site warranty. Warranty expires July 24, 2010. Warranty can be transferred to your (buyers) name.
Windows XP Ready
Windows XP users: This printer is Windows XP ready, thus no updates need to be downloaded to make it Windows XP ready.
Windows Vista Compliant
Windows Vista users: This product is not Windows Vista ready. However, Windows Vista print drivers and scan drivers can be downloaded from http://www.hp.com/go/clj2800series_sw.
Use Only Laser Paper:
I have only used laser type paper for this HP Colour LaserJet 2840. It is recommended that multiuse paper not be used with this machine. Hewlett Packard recommends that only laser paper be used with is machine.(letter or legal or both is fine). Laser paper is more expensive than multiuse, but, in my opinion, using only laser paper will pay for itself because of less problems with printer. I have been using Staples (Business Depot) brand laser paper which has a brightness rating of 96 and a weight rating of 24 lbs/90 g/m2.

H.P. Toner and Imaging Drum Ratings for LaserJet 2840:

Magenta toner: 4,000 pages, price: $100.00
Cyan toner: 4,000 pages, price $100.00

Device Configurations:
Comes with a 125-sheet media input tray, a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) input tray, and a flatbed scanner. It also includes a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface port, a 10/100 local network (LAN) connection, and 96 megabytes (MB) of RAM. Also includes a 250-sheet tray and a memory card reader.

Do not place the device in direct sunlight or in an area that has abrupt temperature and humidity changes. The recommended ranges are from 15 degrees to 32.5 degrees Celsius (59 degrees to 90.5 degrees Fahrenheit) and from 10% to 80% relative humidity.

Hi,
I’m the contact leader for the 7th Markham Beaver Colony and would like to encourage any parents of boys or girls aged 5-7 to take a look at our program. Currently we have 22 children and 5 very committed leaders in our colony, with excellent support and involvement of the parents. Please take a look our schedule to see the variety of events that we have done in the past year at our group website www.7thMarkham.org. Some highlights are three weekend camping adventures, a sleepover at the church, family hike, community service, along a variety of fun nights at our regular location enjoying songs, crafts, games, and stories.
We are on a recruiting drive as half of the children are moving up to Cubs early in April. If you would like more information please send me an e-mail and I’ll get back to you.
We have meetings planned to the end of May (Tuesday nights 6:45 to 7:45 on Reessor Rd), new members are welcome to come to a meeting or two so you and your child can experience Beavers personally.
