Some of the projects and priorities funded in the 2008 Markham budget included design and construction of new parks in Cornell. The status of the new park construction according to Ward 5 Councillor John Webster is as follows:

Grand Cornell (3 parks): The Developer is doing the work up-front and then will be paid in by the Town in the usual way. The contractor (Gateman Milloy) has been hired. Start-up meeting has been held. Contractor is preparing a schedule and organizing his crews. Construction will start soon (weather permitting). Parks should be mostly complete by the end of 2008. Some carry-over work might occur in the spring of ’09.

Country Glen Parkette: Developer up-front. Park under design and working drawings are being prepared. Developer will tender this parkette in the summer of 2008. Anticipated construction start in late August or early September 2008.

Cornell Rouge Parks: Developer up-front. Two parks are under construction: Morning Dove at Cornell Rouge Blvd. and between Country Green Lane and Hikers Lane. Contractor is Rutherford Construction Ltd. Construction will be completed this summer of 2008.
